British High Commission and IOM advise customers regarding appointment for TB Examination (19/10/2009)
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) at the British High Commission and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) continue to look at ways to improve the examination capacity of its Migration Health Assessment Clinics. The IOM is still experiencing an unusually high number of requests for TB tests for the UK at its four clinics - two in Dhaka and one each in Sylhet and Chittagong which means that customers are experiencing delays as they try to make appointments by telephone. The IOM has therefore offered customers with the following advice:
Making an appointment: In response to the high demand, the IOM recommends that customers use the simple on-line appointment system. Customers need to email uktbappointmentsbd@iom.int and follow the instructions provided. They will be sent a message confirming the appointment. Customers can continue to phone the call centre to make an appointment [+880-2-9676071 / +880 1713 047471 / +880 1713 066230 / +880 1714 161385 / +880 1713 481797 / +880 1713 481798 / +880 1730 320061 / +880 1730 320063].
All requests for an appointment should be made by the customer who will need to attend the examination, and not a third party. Customers are requested to provide their phone number when they make an appointment in case the IOM needs to contact them.
If customers have any questions about their appointments, they can attend the Information Counter at the IOM Migration Health Assessment Clinic/Dhaka at Medinova Complex (Second Floor, House 71A, Road 5/A, Dhanmondi). Customers need to have their passports with them.
Keeping an appointment: currently many customers are making an appointment and not attending. It is important that customers either attend their appointment or cancel in advance. This will help the IOM and UK Border Agency to reschedule appointments effectively and ensure that customers who need early appointments are given them.
Customers are requested to make an appointment only if they have plans to apply for a UK visa in the near future. The TB screening certificate is valid for 6 months.
Cost: The charge for the TB screening examination is Taka 3815 [taka three thousand eight hundred and fifteen] only. There is no other cost involved. Applicants do not pay to make an appointment and there is no charge if that appointment is brought forward.
